My mother nearly died of breast cancer, but fortunately she has made a full recovery. Unfortunately, chemotherapy was so hard on her that years later she turned to quack medicine when it seemed she might have a new tumor. Luckily, it wasn't cancer the second time, but she could have died if I hadn't explained to her that her new "medicine" was bogus. Just more proof that prevention really is the best approach.
