| Silk-on-Silk, using only thrifted, secondhand, and dead-stock materials. The burgundy silk noil brings out the colors of the hand embroidery. The ribbons are vintage silk, emulating the vines and the everbloom flowers in the game. The french knots adorning the bottom were done with a 50/50 merino wool-silk blend embroidery floss, and the black ribbon used for Hornet's legs and eyes was hand-dyed by the embroiderer, Miss Scarlet Tanager. And the "cherry" on top, if you would; the real silver thread used for Hornet's needle is made with approximately 100 year old dead-stock French silver thread. |
