First time watcher. In the late 1960s my grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer. At the time chemotherapy didn't exist yet and radiation treatment was just starting. The most popular treatment for lung cancer was surgery to physically remove infected tissue. Not only did she survive when the mortality rate was around 30%, she lived an additional 40 years before dying to long term complications from her cancer. My family is under no delusion that the only reason she lived so long was luck. So I donate to help get rid of luck as a deciding factor in survival and so they can never have to worry about complications from cancer decades after beating it. |
