In October of 2024 I went to the hospital with what my mother believed was a kidney stone (my first one ever). The pain was near crippling, the CT scan they performed to locate it after confirming that was what I had revealed shadows on my liver. A second CT scan and an MRI later the doctors were telling me I had cancer and my mother and I were scared and preparing for the worst. Over the next couple months I got more tests done to determine the specific type it was ending with a liver biopsy which required driving 2 hours to another city. The whole time I'd been clinging to the slim chance the masses in my liver were not cancer. The biopsy revealed they WERE and I was struck by how insanely lucky I was, both that I didn't have cancer but with how seriously the doctors had taken the chance it was. Normally it takes weeks to get test results but these tests had results within days. Thankful as I am to be healthy I know many others are not so lucky so I'm donating in the hopes it can help someone who wasn't so lucky to win their fight.
