In 1835, Michigan attempted to steal Toledo from Ohio. Ohio, which was incorporated as a state in 1803, included the Maumee River and Toledo area. The Michigan TERRITORY (not state) attempted to claim this strip of land 30 years later because it didn't have enough population to incorporate, and the two sides sent small military forces to either side of the river. No casualties were incurred, and Michigan finally realized Ohio's superiority.
