My family has had a lot of experience with cancer. I lost my grandfather to a brain tumor when I was young, my mom's a breast cancer survivor, and my younger sister was diagnosed with an astrocytoma 20 years ago when she was 16, requiring brain surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Her tumor's come out of remission a few times, and she's had a lot of chemotherapy over the past 20 years, but her fight got more serious in late 2024 when she needed a second brain surgery. She just started a course of radiation treatment last week, and that's made this year's AGDQ even more personal than usual. It's scary. I'm scared. But I'm so grateful for this community coming together to try to make a world where nobody has to go through what my sister has. Trans rights.
